The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) has announced a $100,000 contribution to the NO on Prop 8, Equality for All campaign. The contribution, authorized by GLAAD's National Board of Directors, will be in addition to in-kind services donated to the campaign to defeat Prop. 8 in California.
"GLAAD's board of directors and staff are proud to play our part in this vital effort to ensure that all loving and committed couples in California continue to have the protections and the security that marriage provides," said Dr. Yvette Burton, co-chair of GLAAD's Board of Directors.
"GLAAD has been working for 23 years to change hearts and minds about issues facing our community, and this historic moment is truly a culmination of our culture-changing work," added GLAAD Board Co-Chair John Hadity.
The contribution will go to support public education and voter outreach efforts in California. In addition, the organization is working with campaign coalition partners to provide staff support and resources for the campaign. GLAAD is closely following guidelines for tax-exempt organizations under IRS code 501(h).
